MOSTLY HARD STANDING. Full membership of Sports and Social club whilst camping.
This weekend is our AGM for all members, during which we will be formalising the new committee.
This has to be decided on otherwise the club will no longer be part of the Camping and Caravanning Club.
Also we will discuss the FOL for later in the year to decide our theme of events for the Land of Make Believe.
Our first meet was at Eggborough Power Station 24th - 26th March, which was a mixture of weather. Rain (prolonged at times) and sunshine.
Hope our visitors enjoyed their weekend. It was nice to see Mike and Matthew on the field.
Saturday saw us dashing to see the steam train, Union of South Africe, pass through Ferrybridge on her way to York. You you don't see many of those these days.
In the clubhouse a quiet drink and a good natter was enjoyed by all. Our A.G.M. was on Sunday and we now have our 'Committee.'
After that, time for a sandwich and head for home.
A good weekend.
Cynthia and Terry Jones.
Hi all.
This was a very enjoyable weekend. (Well it would be. I was pulled off by a burley builder and I had only been on site for 5 minuets). Yes I got stuck in the mud. Big 4x4 that cost more than I want to say and I got stuck. (Can I hold my head up again? Don’t think so) Thanks Charlie. Any body know where I can get some good tyres??? . Barrie, Sharron and I went out for a run on Saturday to look at the site at York Cricket and rugby club. Looks like a nice place. A bit wet at the moment but where isn’t? A few dry days and it will be a nice site for us all to enjoy.
The AGM on Sunday morning went well I think. New to a lot of us but we will get used to it. Big thanks go to all who volunteered to be on the committee. As you all know if we don’t pull together we won’t have a club. We can now build on what we have and keep it going for years to come. When all is said and done, It should be just the same club as we have had for the past 30 or so years, but the management of it has changed a little. I know this will be hard for some to swallow but we have no choice if we want to continue to camp with all our close friends as we have for a long time.
I for one will endeavour as your new Vice Chairman to do all I can to keep the club running as it always has. I believe that you have all voted for a committee that has the best interests of our section at heart. I think we have some good times to come when we all get used to the new system.
Well that’s about all from me now. See you all soon.
