FULL USE OF CLUB FACILITIES WHILST ON SITE
Hello again.
Its me. The one who has nothing better to do on a Sunday night. This weekend we have been to a new site for us. Drax power station sports and social club. The only site with its own fly over. ( as you will see from Barrie’s photos) When I set off I had a vague idea where I was going but I thought I would find it easy by just heading towards the cooling towers after leaving the M62. Nobody took into account that the fog was thicker than Mums gravy. I didn’t see the cooling towers until I opened the blinds on Saturday morning. Well I think I am going off the subject. I did Find the site as it had been well sign posted by our hosts for the weekend Kath & Charlie. 8 vans in total for the weekend, Not bad (but could do better) On Friday night we all met in the club house for a few cups of tea. (Did I say tea? I should have said coffee) Well that coffee must have been strong stuff because I was the first out of the club. I actually left Dum & Mad still boozing while I went back to the van. I was knackered. (For those of you that can’t remember, This is a state you get into when you have been WORKING all week)
Saturday morning and the weather was a bit kinder. As I mentioned earlier we could see the cooling towers as the fog had lifted.
Steve, Barrie and the one who cant play (me) went for a game of golf on the local course. Our official scorer came along to make sure there was no cheating. (Will a tenner do the trick next time Keith?) A very tricky course but once again a very enjoyable afternoon. Thanks lads.
Back on site and just time for a coffee a bit of tea and forty winks before going back in to the club for another p---s up. ( Its all go with this club) Charlie had organised a female vocalist for our entertainment. (yeh right) It was nice to be entertained by a professional for a change (but not as good as one of my socials of course) Professional singer and 2 games of Bingo.( first time I have filled 6 cards at once. I think I need a dabber) We all had a go on the raffle, Hazel won a box of biscuits and Louise (visitor) won a toaster. (That reminds me, we didn’t see the biscuits at coffee morning. Tight cow.) (Can I say that? Just did so there). A good night was had by all. Midnight before we left.( we was quiet when we got back on site. Promise)
Sunday morning and the weather was still kind. We woke to find a football match taking place on the adjacent (that’s a big word) field and a Dog show that was nearly in Les & Lillian’s van. We had the coffee morning out side the Stewards van. I ran it in Robins absence and did all the usual announcements.( sorry no one could hear me for all the bloody dogs barking)
All in all another entertaining weekend with Caldervale. Only a pity that we don’t get a few more out at the later meets.
Our Thanks go to Kath & Charles ( Sunday name) for this weekend. Well done and keep it up.
Hope to see you all at Everton Hill Cottage next week
Duncan
Hello again , can you believe it, another great weekend not all sun but fine and dry again.
What a busy site, when we arrived the car park was full but we had the field to ourselves, a little near the road but very near the club which we used on Friday evening, and a good night it was too.Saturday was a little misty to start with but that didn't put us brave golfers from going for another round of golf.A new course with very good greens and some very narrow fairways, but we enjoyed the challenge. The ladies went shopping into Selby and for once beat us back to site. They must have been feeling a bit ill or something I expect they will make up for it next time out.Saturday evening saw us back in the club where we were entertained by a young lady singer who too a fancy to Charley and Keith .We had to keep an eye on Charley as he was on his own Cath was wathing X factor,Keith was watched by Hazel.Quite a late evening but we had no rush to get up Sunday morning.
When we did emerge it was to the sound of dogs soing Fly ball runs on the side of the field, a bit too fast for most of us.We had coffee morning outside our stewards van as it was a nice morning,Nice to see some new visitors and we hope they enjoyed it as much as I think they did. Hope to see them at Lincoln for the Christmas Fair . Duncan and Steve assisted by Keith went for another round of golf after Coffee morning, while Hazel,Cath, Joan,Charley and me went for a walk. When it was time to go home, Iris & Ivan were the first off which must be a first for them.Duncan and Steve arrived back from Golf and we all started to make our way home after a well run meet by our Stewards CATH & CHARLEY thanks both of you .
See you at Epworth, can't make it next weekend (sorry Iris & Ivan) BYE for now

Joan
