Well kept, flat and quiet site. Beautiful sandy beachs within 2m at Happisburgh, Eccles on Sea and Cart Gap which also has a boat launch ramp. Ideal for Norfolk Broads and coastal resorts such as Cromer to the North and Great Yarmouth to the South, both are only about 1/2 hour away. Fish & Chip supper on Friday nights & get-togethers organised. Own sanitation essential.
PS - Happisburgh is pronounced 'Ayesborough' !
Hi. We've just returned from the T.H.S. at Happisburgh.
For the first few days the weather was brilliant so we thought that we were in for a good meet. The field was looking great after pegging out a few pitches unfortunately the weather had other ideas. By the bank holiday weekend strong winds and rain came. Luckily everyone had awnings away from the winds so it minimised damage. From that weekend on the weather hasn't been very kind to us at all. Anything from sea mist - rain - winds - sun the latter being very infrequent. It made it worse when only a few miles inland the weather was great.
Sorry the horseshoes didn't come out on an evening as much as they normally do. We were willing but the weather again let us down.
We had our usual fish and chip social evenings. The fish and chips were as good as ever as were the get togethers. The downside to it was that the regular fish and chip shop owner decided to have a weeks holiday during our meet. We found another fish and chip shop which turned out to be just as good but the order for only 8 people confused the shop assistant!!!!!!
During the meet Tony and Christine were another year older. The birthday party that we had was a good evening had by all. Thank you Tony and Christine.
A big thank you to Mrs Durrell for delivering the daily newspapers and milk and also providing appliances ( freezer and spin dryer) for our meet.
To all the caravanners and campers who camped with us we thank you for coming and hope you enjoyed your stay as much as we enjoyed meeting you.
Finally thank you for all your good comments regarding the meet either verbally or by letter.
We hope to be able to welcome all caravanners and campers next year.s
Christine, Tony, Sue and Duncan.
Dear Caldervale & South Yorkshire BCC
We visited your THS in Happisburgh for the spring bank holiday week and would like to thank the stewards, Tony, Christine, Duncan and Sue for a warm welcome and a pleasant stay. Tony was very efficient and within 2 minutes we knew where to find everything on site (apparently, they even have a tumble drier in the awning for members to use). We thought we might have to make use of this as the weather wasn't kind to start the holiday and it was a wave through the rain to the stewards as we went past in the car for the first couple of days. The sun eventually came out and most of the site came to play horseshoes. I don't know if we had the horses' permission but you could here them on the road going 'clippety' but no 'clop'.
Friday was the 'fish and chip supper' evening. Tony and Duncan went to the local chippy to collect everybody's orders and then, after a toot on the horn, we all congregated in the awning for a meal and a social. I must thank Duncan for doing the washing up (far beyond the call of duty) and Tony for listening to me put the world to rights.
Sue was interested in the walks we were doing around the broads so I left her with the information and I do believe she has had chance to walk some of them. You do see a lot more when you get off the beaten track.
Anyway, we hope to return in the near future to visit other attractions in the area and to meet up with you again.
All the best and thanks to the stewards for stewarding.
John & Carol Cowperthwaite
