Lovely flat site, near river. Ideal for walking, bike riding, golf course nearby. Table top sale saturday committee meeting 10am saturday
Hi all.
Well what a weekend. In excess of 24 vans. We arrived on Friday in Very bad weather. Heavy rain all the way. We were greeted with the usual Caldervale welcome from our Stewards Brenda & Peter. It is not a good sign of things to come when some people have to be towed on to the site. A few hardy ones braved the rain and had a walk to the local hostelry for a little tipple on Friday night.
Saturday morning arrived and the cloud was still with us. I had asked for help with my erection and in no time the tent was up. (What else did you think I ment?) The committee meeting started at 10.00 and was over by 11-40. Only interrupted by Santa clause and a car stuck in the mud. (Ask somebody who was there).
After the meeting the golfers went for a game on the local course. Not a bad round? One of us took 18 on the last hole. I’m sure if you ask him Charlie will tell you who it was. (The one who is always bragging about A HOLE IN ONE). We all enjoyed our game. Thanks lads. Also thanks goes to our chief ball spotter Keith.
When we arrived back on site the Table Top Sale was in full swing. A big thank you to all who gave time and money to support The Air Ambulance.
After the wet start to the meet, Saturday evening was the total opposite. Warm and sunny all the way. We had a BBQ and dined alfresco. (Outside for the commoners)
The Social in the tent that night was very entertaining. A big thank you goes to Peter & Brenda for putting up with all the Stick. Well done.
Sunday morning and yes you guessed it, More Rain. Coffee morning was at 11.00 as usual.. Quiz Answers, Raffle, Announcements Etc. Then time to take the tent down in the pouring rain. Thanks and well done to all who helped.
Even though The weather was bad for most of the weekend I think that we all enjoyed it. I Must say a big thank you to Peter & Brenda for Stewarding the weekend. Not only was it wet but we had to put up with the Kids from the other meet. Well done to you both and we all look forward to your next meet. The total raised for the Air Ambulance this weekend was In excess of £80-00. WELL DONE. See you all soon
Duncan
Hi there, what a weekend, we came back off holiday to get away from the rain and have come back to more here, never mind we had a good time splashing in the mud putting up the marquee in the rain and taking it down again in the rain.
Apart from the rain on Friday it was a good start some braved the rain to go for some liquid refreshment in the local pub ,we didn't we had seen enough rain for one day . Saturday was better, no rain but some sun, four brave soles went for a game of golf after our committee meeting while some went shopping, We got back latter than expected and the table top sale was well under way when we arrived.Saturday evening Peter had arranged a quiz and a game of gards . The cards were allright but the quiz proved that we are thick, thanks for that Peter.
Sunday we had our usual get together to pay our dues, thank goodness we had the marquee up as it was raining again. I think all who attended enjoyed themselves even though they may have got wet and muddy, Thanks to Brenda & Peter for a good time despite the RAIN, only one thing to add to this is that Duncan managed a HOLE IN 18. well done Duncan for not giving up after your counter ran out of numbers. One can only get better can't one.
See you all soon JOAN & BARRIE
