Golf course and driving range nearby, pub opposite. Fishing on site.
Gday All
Hear we are again, safely tucked up at home on a Sunday night after leaving The old uns on site to enjoy the rest of a wonderful 5 day Meet.
This week it was the turn of Hazel , Keith and Sandra1 to be our hosts at our new site for this year, Haxey Quays. What a great site it is. The owner has gone to great lengths to make this site more than just another field. The Water & elsan points are from the top draw. With The Pub and Golf Club just across the road and the free fishing on site, I hope we continue to use this site for many years to come. Any fears of problems with the entrance came to nothing. I think that anyone that attended would say we have sites with much worse entrances than this one.
We arrived on site to find 14 vans on before us. Sharron & Steve arrived later to make a total of 15 including the Stewards. A healthy turn out of both CV& SY members and visitors alike. We decided to put the tent up on Friday so we could do our own thing on Saturday morning. You know the kind of things I mean. Golf ,Shopping ,Fishing ETC.
After the blokes had managed to get there erection up. (Yes I do mean the tent for all you with the dirty minds.) It was off to the Pub for a few of us to try and cool down with a drink or three. We decided to sit out side in the smokers bit as it was a lovely night. I think that this smoking ban thing is discrimination, We non smokers can monopolise the smoking seats out side but the poor puffers cant sit in our bit inside. Well that’s another argument. Am I babbling? I think so. Get on with it I hear you scream.!!!
A great night was had by all. Thanks.
Saturday morning came and the weather was fine, sunny and warm. I wanted to go shopping with the ladies but all the bully boy blokes started to call me names so I had to go with them for a game of Golf. ( what’s the Child line number?) 9 of us in total went for a game. Yes 9. We had 2 new recruits to the Golf society in the form of Keith and Matt. Welcome boys.(don’t forget the secret hand shake you two) Both didn’t do bad for the first time out. Hope you enjoyed it.
As I mentioned, the girls went shopping without me. Didn’t you have a good time Audrey? Arthur and Dad stayed on site and did a spot of fishing. Dad said that Arthur had a whopper. Winnie told him to stop telling fibs and tell us about the fish. Mum stayed on site to fish Dad out if he fell in.
At tea time we had a communal BBQ which was very nice. Good food & company once again.
The social on Saturday night was another barrel of laughs. Well done to Keith for his Quiz.( Much better than mine last week. Did I say mine? Private joke) Also thanks must go to Barrie for his game of HOY, STANDING or what ever you call it. Well done to you all. A very entertaining night.
Sunday morning came and the Bully Boys dragged me off for another game before the Coffee morning. The car bookers had asked me to move the coffee morning to 12-00 instead of 11-00 so I said yes .Just this once. (Believe that you will believe anything) I think our game of golf went better than the car boot sale by the sound of it. Only 6 boots I was told. Audrey got in first at 6 o’clock and bought the lot. Didn’t you have a good time?
As I said the coffee morning was held at 12-00 noon. (I suppose that makes it a coffee afternoon) All the usual announcements and Banta. Afterwards we had a quick FOL planning meeting before taking the tent down and storing it ready for the next time it is up at misterton. A big thanks goes to all who helped to put it up and take it down. (we are getting good at it now).
Just time for a quick bite and a drink before packing up ready for home. If you missed this meet you missed a good un. Well done to all involved. Cant wait for next year.
This will be my last report for a couple of weeks as our old lass and me are taking our little children off on our hols. To the sun for a while. We both hope you all have a wonderful FOL. We will be thinking of you and I am sure you will do our area proud as usual.
GOOD LUCK.
See you all at Malt Kiln Farm coffee morning.
Duncan & Sandra.
Hi there, back from another weekend of good weather and good company. A new site and what a good one, nice field, fishing on site, good walks, bike riding on quiet lanes, a pub across the road next to a driving range and guess what else? A golf course across the road. Shops not far away for our ladies to visit while the men went golfing, ladies are always welcome to come and join us for a round.
We had a photo call on Saturday morning for our ever increasing GOLF society, 8 members on site and 1 friend of Robins from the Misterton site. Golf for the guys and shopping for the ladies was the order of the morning on Saturday and then a communal BAR-B-QUE in the evening followed by a social hosted by Hazel & Keith our weekend stewards who were assisted by Sandra. Debbie & Matt were with us this weekend as part of their Honeymoon. Debbie gave those of us who didn't get to the wedding a private showing of her Wedding Dress, thanks Debbie you looked lovely (I'm a softy realy)
Our usual get together Sunday morning after another round of golf and car boot sale trip, where we made final arrangements for our FOL at Wighill.
Thanks to Hazel Keith & Sandra for a good weekend, see you all at the FOL Joan & Barrie.
