Full use of club facilities whilst on site

Hi All
Sunday night once more and time for a few lines about this weekends meet.
Our hosts this weekend have been Hazel & Keith. The location, Drax Power Station. 10 vans in total this time. I think this is a nice site, but I can see why some people may be put off by the noise from the road and the coal trains trundling by. I honestly didn’t hear anything once I was tucked up in bed. You should be ok Ted, If you can put up with Audrey’s snoring you can put up with anything. Well back to the weekend.
After arriving on Friday evening we was treated to the usual warm Caldervale welcome from Hazel & Keith. After tea most of us went into the club for a few drams. Good company, Stimulating chat and best of all cheap booze. You can’t ask for much more than that. (Well you could ask but you probably wouldn’t get it.)

Saturday morning came and an early start for Sandra and me as we went to pick up our new motor from Huddersfield. We arrived back on site at about 12.30 to find that a few of the shopping team had gone off to do what they are good at. The Golf crew had kindly waited for yours truly to get back before setting of on our round on the local course. 6 of us this week two groups of 3. Those of us who had played Drax before were looking forward to this round and we weren’t disappointed. Thanks to you all for a top afternoon.

Just back in time to light the BBQ and cook the meat for 4 vans. Lamb chops all round. No reports of the two bob bitts on Sunday morning so the meat must have been ok. After tea some decided to stay on site whilst the others went in to the Club to be entertained by the turn. From the reports I got on Sunday morning a good night was had by all.

Sunday and the weather was still fine and dry. Another early one for me. Awake at 5-30 to watch Lewis Hamilton Kick ass in Japan. The boys a star and will win the title in his first year. Fernando who? Sorry back to the plot. Coffee morning as usual at     11-00 with all the usual stuff. Whoopee. Sandra & Dunc win the van prize. A nice pack of cleaning equipment. Thanks Hazel & Keith ( I think) I will get many hours of pleasure out of that one. We left site at about 1.30 leaving the rest to enjoy the nice afternoon weather.

If you have never been to Drax, Don’t be put off by any reports about the noise. I promise it’s not that bad. Give it a go next year and make your own mind up. We will be there to support Hazel & Keith again that’s for sure.
Thanks go to them for another very enjoyable meet.

Don’t forget that the annual Dinner is coming up, so contact Sharron or myself to book your place. Camping is available as usual at Eggborough.  The price will be announced shortly.

  See You all soon

Duncan

Hi there, just returned from a weekend at Drax hosted by Hazel & Keith.Another fine weekend both weather wise and enjoyable. We had a total of nine vans out, not bad for this time of year. We had a get together in the club on Friday evening and Mathew got invited into the big room by one of the ladies that were putting on the show.

On Saturday six of us went for a game of golf but couldn't go until after 12 Oclock because of a match that was being played (that's what we were told but it gave Duncan time to get back from getting his NEW motor )Very nice it is too.The ladies went out shopping twice I think that was because they couldn't get all they had bought in the car so they had to do two trips. Saturday evening we went into the club again, this time there was a TURN on and a game of bingo.

Once again Mathew was invited into a wedding reception to meet the BRIDE, He will have to let us in on his secret of how to be so popular. Sunday morning we had our usual meeting to pay our fees and air our views  and get the answers from Keith for the quiz. I went with Robin for a walk round the power station and got back just in time to have a snack and then pack up to set of home  to go to my grandson's 21st birthday party.  Thanks Hazel & Keith for a good weekend , hope to see some next weekend at the GOOSE fair meet.

The weekend after is our meet at Barnbro don't forget its our FOL  and the pub is at the corner of the field.
See you soon  Joan & Barrie
