Hi all
This week some of us have been sampling the hospitality of Notts DA at the goose fair meet. Once again Notts DA have pulled it off. A first class meet made better by first class weather. We arrived on Friday afternoon to find all bar one of our block booking on site. Robin & Janet arrived later to make it 7 in all. Mum, Dad Sandra and I followed the sent to find the food vans for our tea. Wow. The Fish & Chips were out of this world as usual.
A little later a few of us went down to the beer tent to give them our opinion on the refreshments. Not bad but the stuff that I was drinking seemed to have a weird affect on my legs. (both going in different directions) We bumped in to a few old faces and a good night was had by all.
Saturday morning and the weather was fine & dry so off we went for a look around the trade. As always a good mix of stalls. After a cuppa we decided to have a trip to the local garden centre to look at the wonderful display of Christmas lights and trimmings. When we arrived we were gob smacked to find out that the place was burned to the ground in 2005. What a shame. Any body that has seen the display that was put on in previous years will agree that it was a sight to behold. Not as good as our Christmas scene at the FOL in 2003 obviously.
We arrived back on site and I went back down to the trade to Torksey Caravans as I had promised to treat our van to a motor mover. We decided to stay in our van on Saturday night so Dum & Mad joined us for a drink or 3 and a bite to eat.
Sunday morning and the sun was still shining. We went to the main arena for the Market and the closing ceremony. No Luck again on the raffle. Afterwards it was back to the vans for a Quick cuppa and time to pack up.
Congratulations must go to Notts DA on a first class meet. Also thanks to all the Caldervale members who joined us for the block booking. We are looking forward to next year already.
Don’t forget next week it’s the Caldervale FOL with Joan & Barrie. Try to light up if you can.
See you all soon
Duncan & Sandra.
