From Kevin & Doreen

Hello all, Just back from West Cowick and had another good weekend meet. Our stewards were Lorraine & Mike, and after being locked out when they arrived they put on a great weekend .

We had to go on the hard standing away from the hut due to the field being under water , the photo doesn't show how much water there was but there were ducks swimming on it just before I took the pics.Friday evening we had in our own van and on Saturday we went into Selby for a little shopping (no golf this weekend) Saturday afternoon Robin and me went for a walk along the canal past the lake and back home . Saturday evening we went into the hut and had some games, Robin won the SKITTLES and Duncan won the darts. A very fancy dart board it was too, all electronic so nobody had to do any thinking of the scores(thank goodness) Lorraine & Mike had arranged for us to have pies & peas for supper, very nice they were too.

Then we had aquiz, ladies v gents, the ladies won as usual, we had to let them or life wouldn't be wearth living.(poor loosers) Sunday morning we had our usual coffee morning in the hut, went for a walk then a bite to eat  and then had to pack up .Thanks again to Lorraine & Mike for a good weekend

see you all next week    bye Joan & Barrie

Hello.
Once again we were the last to arrive on site. ( Something to do with the work thing). After the weather forecast I must admit that I wasn’t expecting to find 7 vans on site and no room for me. The main field was under water so Mike & Lorraine had set up camp on the harder side of the site. When we arrived it was either sandwiched in between Mike & lorraine and Chris & Pauline our visitors or find another little nook on the site. I think that we found the only bit of grass that was not water logged. After pitching and having a bite to eat , Robin & Janet had invited us over to discuss how we could also get a new van out of the club. Or was it for a drink? Well we accepted the offer and had a good night. Thanks to you both. (And Ben the dog of course).

Saturday morning and a bit of a lie in for the wife and me. It was 10.00 before we saw the light of day. That’s a big lie in for me.
Well after breakfast we decided to join everybody else and have a drive out and hit the shops. I think that Selby was the main attraction this weekend. We found the massive market, 1 Plant stall,1 Cake stall and a material stall. My kind of market. We was lucky to get back on site after going in one shop and the alarm going off. The store detective never took his eyes off us. Anyway we shook him off and made our escape.
Back on site and just time to take Max for a quick stroll and have 40 winks before meeting up in the hall for the Social.

It was a little cold when we arrived in the hall so we went back to our vans for all the heaters we could muster. The room was set out with tables in a square for the supper and all decorated. It looked a treat. We started with a Darts and Skittles knock out, then had a break for our Pie And Pea supper. And what a treat it was. Pie of your choice, Mushy peas & Gravy to top it off. After the feast it was down to the finals. Peter won the Skittles and I won the Darts. When we thought it was all over out came the Quiz. The ladies verses the Gents. Well there was only going to be one winner. Yes you guessed it. The ladies cheated and won.
What a good night. We had a couple of visitors with us and I’m sure they will be back.

Sunday morning we were greeted with a little drizzle. We had our usual get together in the hall to pay our fees and listen to my drivel for a while. Then it was time to pack up and head off home.
This weekend may have been slightly damp but it was one I will remember. Well done to Lorraine and Mike for all the hard work they both put in to make this a success. Also a big thank you to everybody who turned out in not to good conditions. I for one appreciate your commitment to our club. Hope to see you all next week at Hoyland Swain.
Duncan.
