Committee meeting 7pm Friday Evening
Hello again.
This time we have been for our second visit of the season to Misterton with Brenda & Peter. I took advantage of the Thursday start and took my van after work. I arrived just in time to see the heavens open again. (We are getting to used to it now). Only a short down pour this time. The rest of the evening was quite fine giving me time to get the awning up for the committee meeting on Friday night.
I set off to work early on Friday in lovely sunshine. After a hard day(every body say arrrr) I arrived back on site at about 4.30.
After a cuppa and a chin wag it was time for tea. Chinese tonight. Lemon Chicken. Lovely. The meeting started at 8.00 pm and lasted about 2 hours. Thanks to all who gave up there evening.
Saturday morning came and so did the rain again. It kept off just long enough for the tent crew to get both tents up. All our clan went off to Elvington Air field to watch our Ben drive a Ferrari which some of the family bought for him. He had a ball. 170MPH at one point. A good day was had by all.
When we arrived back on site the weather was nice again so out came the old BBQ. Proper charcoal I might add. Not a namby pamby gas one. I wont be shifted.
After tea it was time for the social that we have been waiting for all season. Peter’s big Domino surprise. He had told us that it might be a disaster or it might be a laugh. He didn’t lie on both counts. He did take some stick. Sorry Peter. After we all got the hang of it (well most of us got the hang of it) it went quite well.(or did it? I’m still not sure) Joking apart. We all had a good night and we must thank Brenda & Peter for donating the supper and once again keeping us entertained with something different. It is not easy to keep thinking things up when you do 3 or 4 socials a season. Keep it up you two. We might give you stick but we do appreciate what you do.
Sunday came and so did the sun. A wonderful day. We held the coffee morning in the tent with all the usual stuff and a bit more about the committee meeting. Afterwards Peter & Brenda held a table top sale with the proceeds being donated to The Air Ambulance. A big thanks for that.
After taking the tents down it was time to pack up an head home leaving some to see the rest of the meet out till Tuesday.
Misterton always provides a good meet. Thanks go to Brenda & Peter for the work that they put in.
See you all soon
Duncan
Hello all, on time this weekend as we have just arrived back from our weekend meet at Misterton with our hosts Brenda & Peter.Another mixed bag of weather,as we couldn't get there till Friday teatime due to me playing golf at Worksop Friday morning till about 4-00pm we missed most of the rain and managed to set up without getting too wet. After a bite to eat we had a COMMITTEE meeting in Duncan's awning ,till about 10-0 o'clock.Saturday morning we put up out 2 tents ready for Peter's social evening, which was to be a surprise to do with dominoes. After putting up the tents our golf trio set off for a game in quite strong wind which resulted in us loosing more balls in the river than we have in the past.We didn't get back till quite late in the afternoon so evening meals were a bit late and as Peter started the social at 7-30 I was a bit late getting there. As the game had started I gathered that it involved a set of dominoes and a list of football teams, that's about all I can tell you about it except that it seemed to involve a lot of swopping partners (that's when I wished I had joined in). Things seemed to be a bit chaotic but everone was having agood laugh except Peter (as you can see in the picture)It all ended with much merryment and I think all enjoyed themselves. Daniel told his neighbours that they could come to our social but it was FANCY DRESS,so when they turned up on site they found out that they were the only one dressed up, I think you may have to pay later Daniel look out. Thanks to Brenda & Peter for supper and a good evening's entertainment.Sunday morning we had our usual coffee morning and had to pay our dues, followed by an update of our Committee meeting, This was followed by a table top sale. After that we had to take down the tents and put them away ready for next time.We then just sat around doing our usual nattering and drinking tea, Most enjoyable. Then it was home time again, hope those who are staying on till Tuesday enjoy themselves and the weather stays fine. We won't be out next weekend as we going to my Granddaughter's wedding ( doesn't it make you feel old)Hope you have a good meet and we will see you at WOOLLEY (Duncan, don't got to Bretton it will be quite lonely) See you
there Bye for now JOAN & BARRIE
Hi Everyone,
Hazel and myself attended the meet at Misterton hosted by Brenda and Peter and enjoyed a good weekend. We arrived late a about 7.45pm but were still invited for a cuppa by our stewards and most welcome it was. The weather over the weekend for a change was quite good. On Saturday morning after helping to put the tents for the evening social off we went with the family to see our nephew Ben at Elvington enjoy his drive of a lifetime in a Ferrari. On our return it was out with the barbie for tea and then out again to the social. Peter in his own inimitable way put on a new game he had thought up and after a few hicups we all had a good time and a laugh. I would at this point wish to make an obvservation regarding this. I heard a few people making comments about how it could have been done like this and how it could have been done like that. As far as I am concerned, it does not matter how it is done but the fact that it is done for our benefit and for our enjoy! ment. To steward a meet and also organise socials for our benefit should be rewarded with thanks and not criticism. It should not be forgotten the stewards are giving their time for you to enjoy your weekend. I apologise if this not what you like to read in our reports but it is something I feel strongly about. I enjoyed myself, it was a good meet, I had a laugh and it was all down to the two people who gave it a go, Brenda and Peter. My thanks to the both of you.
Regards,
Keith.
