Communal BBQ on saturday evening.
Hi All.
Well here we are again. Sunday night and time for my ramblings about this weekend. Church farm wooley with Sandra and myself.
We arrived on Thursday evening with mum, dad & our sandra in tow to lend a hand. Awnings up and just time for a coffee in the loverly evening weather before bed.
Friday morning and the sun was shining as promised by the weather men. (About time they got it right). The first van arrived at 1.15 ish with a steady flow after that until we reached the dizzy number of 15.
We decided to put the tent up after tea. Thanks to all who helped. We took advantage of the fine night and had a get together in the tent. Most arriving before the quick thunder storm. We had a nice night. Talking over old times AGAIN and some Banta between old friends.
Saturday morning and the sun was shining. At 11.00 AM we gathered in the tent to do a bit or should I say a lot of work on our street scene for the FOL.Well done to you all. I’m sure we will give a good display as usual.
Its all go at a Caldervale meet. No sooner had we packed all the paint away, was it time for the communal BBQ. All the blokes that think they can cook and all the women can have the night off.????? ( I will get it in the ear for that one lads.) We had a very nice meal in very nice company. Thanks.
7-30 and time for one of my socials. Chinese bingo to start with and an all night Quiz. Sharron had provided a food spread fit for a king as it had been Steve’s 50th birthday earlier in the week. Congratulations old lad.
We finished the night off with an old game that I decided to bring up to date. I still don’t know the rules but I think I got away with it. It’s to long to explain. Asks someone who was there. (No Dominos involved) Sorry Peter .couldn’t resist that.
After 7 rounds the over all winner was a Caldervale first timer which went down well. Hope to see you out with us again.
I think we all had a good nights entertainment. As I always say. I enjoyed putting it on so I hope you all had a ball.
Sunday morning came and it was a bit over cast but very warm. By the time the coffee morning came it was sunshine all the way. All the usual announcements and stuff. With a little bit of banta at my expense thrown in for good measure. Its hard to do these get togethers every Sunday morning without being boring. We did have a laugh this week. Thanks for your input.
Well just time to get the tent down and a bite to eat before we set off home and another working week (For some).
Sandra and I have had a ball this weekend made better by the wall to wall sunshine. We hope that you all enjoyed it too. A big thanks goes to all who played a part, however small, to make it a success.
We won’t be out now until the FOL in Scotland as im going to be out of action for a bit. I don’t like to talk about it but im going in for a major operation next Friday. ( It would be a minor inconvenience for a woman but you know what us soft blokes are like)
Thanks for all your help and don’t forget that Janet has a good range of GET WELL CHAIRMAN cards on sale for a very reasonable price.
See you soon
Duncan
Hi there, just back home from Woolley so I thought I would do this while I've time.First off thanks to Sandra & Duncan for hosting this weekend, next to all who helped with the painting on Saturday & last but not least to all who came and made Saturday evening such a good time.
It's with a tear in my eye that I am writing this, as you know DUNCAN is going in hospital for major surgery( at least that's what he says)and we all hope he comes through it OK,and he is fit enough to go to the FOL. Now dry eyed, what a glorious weekend weather wise, at last we have been able to sit around outside (we didn't want to come home)even if only for short spells at a time.Saturday we started painting our cars and I must say it was nice to see so many having a go and I think the finished show was well worth the effort. I think we will still be top of the hits in Scotland . Hope to see a lot of Penelopies all in pink ,thanks for the preview Sandra,in our pit stop.Only 3 more cutouts to do and paint.Saturday evening Duncan tried to compete with Peter for most innovative game this season, quite close Duncan but can you think of another game with less running about?
As it was Steve's birthday last Wednesday (HE WAS 50 )Sharron put on a little surprize party for him on Saturday evening and put on a very nice spread, which we all helped him celebrate and look forward to the next 50 years. Congratulations STEVE. Just as an after thought Duncan can you buy BEN a book of chritian names for his birthday then we might be able to move the right marker along the track.Sunday morning saw even more sun and we had coffee morning half inside & half outside the tent, due to the heat, but it makes a change. After the tent was taken down we were then able to sit around again till it was time to come home . SUCH A HARD LIFE .
See you all next weekend at Hoyland Swain. Best of luck Duncan we will all be thinking about you. See you there Joan & Barrie
Hi all !
Another glorious weekend, those who didnt come - you missed another excellent meet! - sorry! After getting pitched up on Friday, there was just enough time for tea before the evening get-together. The the jokes and banter flowed in copious amounts (and so did the beer followed by the lock in at the local - Thanks Charlie & Kath!! ) Duncans Highlight of the evening was playing "Brain Training" on the DS and getting the excellent score of 75 !! - till he realised that the number is how old your brain is ! Doh!!!
Saturday morning started off with the preparation weekend towards the FOL. Many shapes to colour and paint all towards our theme - look at the pic's and you'll probably get a good idea of the chaos! It was too much for some and Ivan took an unscheduled pit stop! Awww! Saturday afternoon and the communal BBQ cracked off - Dad get the charcoal changed !! and we all had a great meal in the tent. Then as evening drew in Duncans Main event kicked off. The "Caldervale Olympics" as he reffered to it, Using all the latest technology, Duncan revealed his newest Random Number Generator - a foot square cube painted up like a dice! That was won by a potential new Caldervale member - well done !. This was followed by supper very kindly provided by Sharron to celebrate the 50th Birthday of Steve! - Happy Birthday!!
Sunday Morning and it was the usual Coffee Morning followed by tent dismantling and packing up. from that point everything seemed to stop at the weather was so nice again nobody wanted to go home! but come 4 most people gave in and headed home.
My personal thanks to our visitors - hopefully you will not be visitors for too much longer !! and we all hope to see you again very soon.
See you all very soon - not sure when as my car is getting changed so i'll be without towbar for a short while
Richard.
PS Keep a candle lit for Duncan - If you havent heard He's going into hospital for a major operation on Friday - wishing you well Dunc !
