Area feast of lanterns on saturday night. Come and light up with us !!

Hi there, back from another weekend meet at Barnbrough which Joan & me ran.
When we got there it was quite windy and we had a little stuggle getting our porch awning up, and I decided not to try the party tene but to leave it till Saturday.I had just managed to get a bite to eat when our first guests arrived , then it was a nice steady stream untill Duncan arrived last of all.Friday evening most of us managed to go to the local hostelry for a little light refreshment a good chin wag and then managed the 400yds.back home.( we will have to find somewhere a little nearer).

Saturday morning the ladies were off on another chair push to Tong garden centre, so four of our golf team just had to go for a round to pass the time. After we got back we put up the tent ready for the evening get together.Next we started to get our FOL ready .What a good show again this year. The pictures don't do them justice they were very good.Audry & Tereesa did the judging for us,and it was a unanimous decision that our winner was once again IRIS & IVAN.  WELL DONE.

During the evening I presented the trophy which Duncan reminded us all that if they win again next year they keep it and we will have to get another, so come on gang lets not have to spend all that extra cash on another trophy, lets win instead. We had a few quizes, and provided soup and a roll for supper, then another quiz.Jack and Roy did us a few gags and Ted gave us a few tunes on his harmonica.I think Duncan will have to get one,I can see the green in his eyes whenever Ted starts to play.

Sunday morning we had our usual coffee morning and paid our dues.Robin and me went for a walk afterwards and worked up a sweat because the weather had turned out so nice.We took down the tent when we got back and then just sat around enjoying the sun, One of our members was tired out and had to have 40 winks (see Picture). That's about all for now folks, hope to see you at Eckington next weekend with our hosts Margaret & Jack (don't forget the Committee meeting)

Bye for now Joan & Barrie.

Hi everybody.
This weekend we have been to Crown Inn farm, Barnburgh. With Our able hosts, Joan & Barrie. We arrived last again on Friday night.(I think you should get a prize for that) 10 vans in total this time. The weather was dry but a bit windy but at least it wasn’t raining. After a quick cuppa and a chat we went back to our van for a bite to eat and catch-up with the happenings on Coronation Street. We decided to meet up in the pub for a change which we did at about 9-30. We took over one side of the room and had a nice night catching up with everybody’s news.

Saturday morning came and the weather was very nice. The usual crew went for a game of 7s (that’s our new name for Golf. Ted will explain). The course was very busy which made for quite a slow game. We all enjoyed it though as usual. Thanks to the lads for a nice game. Most of the ladies went on one of there OAP pushing excursions to Tong Garden Centre in Bradford. By the look of all the gear that they brought back with them they also had a good time. Thanks go to you all on behalf of our Sandra for giving up your time to help her out.

On Saturday night we held our area FOL with 8 out of the 10 vans lighting up. The theme was TV Ads. What a wonderful show. Some simple, some with a lot of thought and some with a lot of work, But all very good. Well done to everybody who lit up. Barrie had asked Audrey & Theresa to judge the displays and thanks must go to them for doing a hard job.  Congrats go to Mum & Dad who won the trophy for the second year running. (I will get it back one year!!!) After walking around the displays we all met up in the Tent for Joan & Barrie’s social. With a couple of quizzes, live music from Ted, Soup of the day, A bloke called Roy that thinks he’s a comedian and a good old chin wag we had one of the best socials of the season in my view. Obviously not the best social because that’s my job.(What do you mean STOP BLOWING YOUR OWN TRUMPET). Well done and thanks for a top night.

Sunday morning and an early start for me. Awake at 4.30am to watch the Live Grand Prix from Japan. I should have stayed asleep as Lewis Hamilton did his best to throw the Championship away. Well that’s another story. When we gathered for the Coffee morning the weather was very nice so we held it outside in the sun. All the usual announcements and banta. Afterwards we all did our own thing until it was time to set off on our way home. I have really enjoyed this weekend and we all should thank Joan & Barrie for putting it on for us. Well Done.

See you all soon
Duncan
