Committee meeting at 6pm saturday evening

This weekend we have been to Eckington Cricket Club with our hosts Jack and Margaret. The first thing that you always notice about this meet is the signing. You pick the first one up as you leave the motorway about three and a half miles from the site.   We arrived on site late on Friday to make ten units in total. As it was a little late we decided to give the welcome cuppa a miss.

Later that night we all gathered in the club house for a drink and a chat. A nice atmosphere as we have exclusive use of the room and bar with the club secretary acting as our host and bar tender for the night. We had an enjoyable evening, catching up on the weeks events and putting the world to right.

Saturday morning came and once again the weather was nice and sunny. The golf society went for the usual knock around. The course was quite busy which made for a slow game but again we all enjoyed our “good walk spoiled”. We arrived back on site just as the Shopping team were returning from a tour of Eckington. Just time for a bite to eat before we joined the rest of the Committee in the club house for our final committee meeting of the season. If any body wants the ins and outs of what was said I have always got the meeting minutes with me whilst I am on site.

At 8.00 o’clock we were joined by the rest of the members for the Saturday night social. Once again this year we decided to have a pool knockout and once again we didn’t have enough time. We had to cut the number off balls down to two each after the first round or we would have been there all night. We really had a good entertaining evening. Our new resident comedian (Roy) was on top form with his jokes. When he starts telling you a story you can never guess whether he is being serious or weather to expect a punch line. Our host from the Cricket club did very well behind the bar and was very welcoming. At the end of the night Jack was the Victor winning the Final.  All in all we had a really good night out. Thanks to everybody for that.

Sunday morning came and believe it or not the sun was shining again. We are not having a bad end to the season weather wise, Hope it keeps up. After another early rise to watch Lewis win the Grand Prix in China, we all assembled in the club house at the usual time for coffee and to pay our fees. I did my usual announcements and filled everybody in on what was said at the meeting the night before.

Afterwards we just had time for a quick Bacon sarnie and a coffee sat outside Hazel and Keith’s van, sat in a shower of falling leafs from the trees as the wind had got up a little. Once again we have been treated to a lovely weekend with our friends and family and we can’t wait for the next one to come around. Thank you to Jack & Margaret for doing a fine job and keep it up.

See you all at Haxey next week I hope.

Hi there, another good weekend meet hosted by Margaret & Jack. They managed to get the weather right again.I arrived Friday afternoon and after setting up went for a cuppa and a chin wag in the bar, it lasted quite a long time due to people coming and stopping with it being so comfortable.Friday evening we were back in the bar for a little light refreshment and more nattering.Saturday the golf society went for a round and after a long wait managed to get a round in and were back on site just as the ladies were coming back from their shopping trip.Saturday evening we had our committee meeting in the bar at about 6.00pm. Followed by a get together and we had a pool knock-out. After a lengthy competition the winner was Jack. Well done Jack I think you will have to get some practice in before next year as the Ladies are fast catching up.Both evenings the bar was manned by members of the cricket club and our thanks go to them for the time spent to give us a good night.Sunday morning we were back in the bar for coffee morning and then it was a bite of lunch and time to make our way home. Thanks again MARGARET & JACK.
Hope to see you all next weekend at Haxey.   Take care till then
Barrie & Joan.
