Hi Everybody.
Back to Haxey this weekend for the last 5 nighter of the season. The meet started on Tuesday but it was a quiet start for the stewards ( Sandra helped by mum & Dad) as nobody turned up until Friday. When Sandra and myself turned up on Friday evening we made the numbers up to 10. After setting up we went to the local hostelry for a bite to eat and a drink or two. Some others had the same idea and we all got together for a good old chin wag afterwards. A good night was had by all.
Saturday morning came and the Golfers had decided on a 9.00 o’clock tee off as the weather was forecast to turn nasty in the afternoon. The wind was quite bad, but that’s enough about Charlie. We battled on and had an enjoyable round as usual. When we arrived back on site we found the Shopping team had gone off to keep the Gainsborough economy topped up. By the look of the amount of stuff that came out of the back of the cars when they got back, Gainsborough must think Christmas has come early.
Well I think they enjoyed there afternoon of retail therapy. As the wind was still blowing, ( not Charlie this time) we decided that it was a bit too rough for the tent. So we had a free and easy evening with everybody doing what they do behind closed doors. Yes you got it. Watching the old goggle box. Family Fortunes, X Factor, Strictly Come dancing and many more quality programmes that the TV people can make for as little as possible. We had a family get together in our Sandra’s van. We had a good night I think. Cant remember much of it as I think somebody spiked my Red Wine with more Red wine.
Sunday morning and we all took advantage of the extra hour in bed with the clocks going back 1 hour. Someday somebody might explain to me why we are the only country to do that????. Back to the plot. We woke up to fine weather as all the forecasted rain fell during the early hours. We held the Coffee morning outside our Sandra’s van in the welcome sunshine. All the usual malarkie, Announcements and jiba jaba.
After the coffee morning Robin, Tiger and myself decided to go for another 9 holes.( Did I say Tiger?? I should have said Charlie but it’s an easy mistake to make isn’t it?) I have to mention Charlie at least 3 times in my reports so that he feels wanted. Well we did have another good knock around. Thanks for the game boys. Just time for a quick cuppa when we arrived back on site before packing up and wandering on our merry way home. Last on site and last off this time. I think we forgot to turn the lights out when we left.( Last out lights out and all that).
Once again we have been treated to a very enjoyable weekend. The weather is being kind to us for the end of the season. Hope it keeps up for the bonfire meet next week. Sorry no photos from me this week, camera on the blink. Thanks go to Sandra, Iris and Ivan for holding the fort yet again.
Duncan.

Hi there,

just back from Haxey Quays weekend meet. That's not quite right it was a 5day meet but only our stewards were there for 5days everyone else turned up from Friday.Sandra and Iris & Ivanhad a very relaxing start to the meet and enjoyed it apart from the wind and rain. We arrived on Friday lunch time in quite high wind but not as bad as it had been. After setting up we had a cuppa and a chat and in the evening went to the local for a meal and stayed for the evening with quite a few of our fellow campers, and very enjoyable it was too.Saturday the golf society set of at 9o clock for a round and managed to beat the crowds and had a very nice game. The ladies went off shopping at about 10 o clock, they had a lie in.

Saturday evening we stayed in our vans as it was not fit to put up the tent for a social.Sunday morning we had a lie in as we had an extra hour in bed due to the clocks being put back. The weather had improved and we had coffee morning outside, which was quite nice after the overnight rain. I went for a walk with Richard and the kids who had come for a visit, after coffee morning and the ladies went shopping AGAIN.After lunch it was time to head for home. Hope to see you all next weekend for our BONFIRE weekend at Barnsdale Bar.Looking forward to the 9 or so fireworks, when we will all know just how many there were in the box.

See you all there bye for now Joan & Barrie
