Fish & Chip supper on Saturday night.
Hello.
Hoylanswaine this weekend with Dum & Mad ( Iris & Ivan) as our stewards. 16 vans out this weekend with a good mix of visitors and members alike. We arrived on Friday in Quite nice weather. It took us around 15 minutes just to decide where we wanted to pitch. After moving 4 times we were there and got our legs down and had a cuppa with the afore mentioned mum & dad.
What a lovely site this is. A gently sloping mountain side springs to mind. The only site that you can see over the van in front of you. Never mind. The land owner provides plenty of blocks for you to level up. As usual the booze crew met up for a guzzle on Friday night in the Lord Nelson across the road. Cheers for a nice night you drunken lot.
Saturday morning and the sun was shining. WHAT NO GOLF!!!!. Yes you heard right. We all had other plans. Barrie went to Penistone shopping, Keith had a bad back, I went to see the farther in law in hospital and Robin didn't want to play with him self. Did I say play with him self?. You know what I mean.
When we all arrived back on site the family got together to Sing Happy Birthday to Keith as it was his 64th birthday as you can see from the photo.
Later on Sandra 1 organised a fish & chip supper helped by Sharron. Very nice indeed. The fish was to die for. Thanks for that you two. After tea we all had a free and easy night doing what we do on a free and easy night in our own vans. Yes watch telly and get drunk. I do like it some times when you can stay in and chill.
Sunday morning and the weather was dull but dry. Coffee morning was held out side the Stewards van as usual. Later we watched the Grand Prix whilst having dinner cooked by steve on the BBQ.
All to soon it was time to pack up and go home. Cheers for a nice weekend to all involved.
If you haven't tried this one you should. It has lovely views and is in a nice area for walking.
Hope to see you all soon
Duncan.
Hi all, back from our weekend at Hoyland Swain hosted by Iris & Ivan.
We set off in quite windy weather but managed OK. When we had got set up we went for a cuppa and a natter with our hosts. Friday evening saw us heading for the local to partake in a little refreshment and another natter, and a very pleasant evening it was too.
Saturday we went into Barnsley for the first time in a long time and quite enjoyed it especially as they had cancelled parking fees for Saturday & Sunday’s. When we got back on the field we realized that the wind had not gone as much as it appeared to have while we were in Barnsley. Saturday evening we had a change and went into Janet & Robin’s van for a drink and another natter, and I think we put the world to right again.
Sunday morning we had our usual coffee morning, with the weather improving a little. We managed to get the tent dry after it was put away wet at Wighill, due to the rain we had .After lunch we managed a sit out round our stewards van until it was time to get ready for home once again.
Thanks again to IRIS & IVAN for a good weekend and hope to see some next week at the BCC. AGM. And if not there we will hopefully see you at YORK THS.
Hope the wedding goes fine next weekend for LORRAINE & MIKE . Till then take care and drive safely BARRIE & JOAN.
