This weekend we have been in the company of Jennifer & Barry at Mandalay. The weather forecast wasn’t good for the weekend which is probably why we only had 9 vans on this very nice site.
We didn’t get chance to have a cuppa with our stewards, as we arrived just as they sat down to tea. Not to worry though as tea and coffee was provided at the coffee morning on Sunday.
We arrived in quite nice weather but it didn’t take long for the rain to arrive. It started about 7.30pm and didn’t stop until about 11-00 the next morning. As the rain was so heavy we decided not to venture out to the local for a drink but stayed in for a tipple with Sharron & Steve.
Saturday morning and the rain had been hammering down all night. The golf crew had arranged to meet at 9-00 for a game but that was scuppered by the rain. At about 11-00 we decided to risk it and set off for the local course. A good move as it turned out. The rain stopped and we had a very enjoyable round of golf. Sandra and Sharron had decided to hit the shops and arrived back on site just after we did. We decided to stop in and watch a bit of telly on Saturday night whilst Robin, Charlie and Kath had a walk to the local for a swift one.
Sunday morning came and it was still dry but the forecast wasn’t a good one. Coffee morning was held at the usual time and I did all the usual bits and bobs. Charlie and Kath cleaned up on the prize front, winning the van prize and the Quiz. After coffee it was back to the van for a bite of lunch or was that a very late breakfast before watching Jenson Button win another Grand Prix. After the GP it was time to pack up and make our way home.
A big thanks goes to Jennifer & Barry for Stewarding this meet again. As I said to Jennifer at the coffee morning, you don’t need to put on a lavish meet with social etc. for people to have a good time. As I have said before, I do like to have a quiet, free and easy meet now and again. Thanks to you both once again.
Hope to see you all at Drax
Duncan.
