Hello.
Another Sunday night and another meet report.
In the shadows of the cooling towers this week at Drax with our hosts Mike & Mrs. Cottingham.
We started as usual on Friday tea time. The weather was great. Sunshine all the way. We arrived a little late so we didn't get chance to have the usual cuppa and chin wag with our hosts but most of the early arrivers did par take of there hospitality. 17 units this week which was nice to see.
Most of us met up in the club on Friday evening to sample the brews on offer. It must have been a good night because it was gone 11-30 before we stumbled back to our vans for the night.
Saturday morning came and so did the sunshine again. The golfers went for a knock about on our favourite course. Don't think any body had a good round but all enjoyed it which is the main thing. The shoppers did there thing and a few of us met up in the 19th as it were after we arrived back on site.
Tea time and as the weather was nice to say the least, it was BBQ time for most. After tea we all met up in the club for a natter and another drink. Any outsider reading this will think we are a load of alcoholics. (My name is Duncan Neale and I'm a caravanner.) Another good night, 12-30 before fell into bed this time. What the hell, You only live once,
Sunday came and the weather was still lovely. After our early morning call from Mathew (Knock knock on the door at 9-00am with the black board telling us that the coffee morning is at 11-00. Cheers Matt!!!!) Well we did hold the coffee morning at the usual time of 11-00. A somber start to this one as I had to announce the passing away of one of Caldervales past chairmen, Jack Laughlin. We held a minutes silence in respect of one of Caldervales founder members. All our thoughts are with his family. After the coffee morning we had a Quick meeting regarding the plans for a street scene for the FLO. A lot of good ideas and much to build on. (Hope we didn't send too many people to sleep ???).
Well on a day like this you don't want to go home, But some of us need to go home to earn the stuff that makes it so we can do what the pensioners do, NOTHING!!!! (Wow I'm going to take some stick for that one) All in all another brilliant weekend with our friends. We also made another couple of members this weekend which is nice to see. Dave and Shellie have volunteered to run a meet next year after only there 2nd time out with us. I know this is due to the warm welcome that we give to all our members, New and old.
A big thank you goes to Lorraine ,Mike and the early morning Knocker for a brilliant weekend. Many more to come we hope.
We are away for the next couple off meets watching Jenson Button win the British Grand Prix. So we will see you at misterton.
Duncan
Hi there, just back from DRAX so I thought I would jump in quick and write a few words while I can. Another great weekend this time hosted by Lorraine Mike & Matthew. When we arrived on Friday we were surprised to find so many already there,I think the fine weather must have been to blame, but it was nice to see so many vans out by Friday evening. When Duncan arrived we tried to put up the new tent but found that they had sent us the wrong poles and the wrong wall coverings typical of our tent dealings. We gave it up as a bad job and later managed to trek across to the bar for the evening where we managed our usual chin wag session, and enjoyed a glass or two( just to be sociable). Saturday morning we had to wait around till it was time to go for a round of golf(about 12ish) and the ladies went to do a little shopping to stave off withdrawal symptoms. Saturday evening it was back to the bar for another gathering where some played snooker while others just watched. Sunday morning we had our usual coffee morning and it was nice to see so many NEW MEMBERS (things are looking up again and we may soon have enough members to stage another BCC FOL) After lunch I went a walk with Robin around the Power Station. Then it was relax and enjoy the sun till it was time to go home AH AH AH Thanks again to Lorraine & Mike for stewarding a fine weekend .
Hope to see some members out at Shepley next weekend for our 5 day meet, and those going to Blackpool lots of best wishes and for TED hope his opp goes well and hope you are out with us again soon.
Till the next time safe motoring and look after one

Hello everyone
Thought it was about time I added my bit to these reports. What started out a terrible friday - they do say things come in three's - but a blowout on the caravan topped it off! Less said about that whole event the better!
Saturday morning and it was time for us to try and repair one of my problems by visiting the caravan spares place in Castleford. After a quick look at the XSCAPE ski slope, and a game of bowling we set of back to the field. We did call into Selby on the way for a bit of shopping before getting back to site and striking up the BBQ's. Not quite a communal BBQ but I think we must have a new record for the most number of B&Q barb'ies in use at any one time !! I say "IN-USE" loosely as it took dad nearly an hour to get his going ! - Some fireman !! - He was so upset he tried to wrestle me, for the use of the tongues - but lets just say I had to help him up twice !!
Once the meat had settled and the strawberries & cream were all gone, there was only one thing left to do, so it was off to the bar for a beer or two. Lindsay tried beat me at snooker - and yes for the second time in one day - she won !
Sunday morning and -BANG BANG ! on the door - WHAT - WHAT - IS THE CARAVAN ON FIRE???? - No Its just Mathew letting us know that the coffee morning is at 11am - - it was just after 9am ! never mind - could have been worse! After breakfast and Duncans usual messages during the coffee morning, and a more intimate chat between those going to the FOL with regards to what we're planning - I think this could be the best for a number of years !!! After washing the BBQ and the car and a general tidy up all round it was time to pack up and come home - never a good time in my opinion!
For those who like to know - our annual dinner has been booked for Saturday November 14th (not the 7th as advertised) with camping available over the weekend (Friday to Sunday) the cost for the meal will be £10 per head for a two course Carvery & Sweet. If you'd like to go, you need to book in with me by our last meet at Glebe Farm (the Bonfire meet).
Please remember that We still have requirements for stewards for next year - if you want to see the list and put your name down for a meet, please ask me. Please remember you don't have to do very much if you don't want to, and you do get a free weekend's camping as a thankyou. More importantly - one short phrase says more than any other - No Steward - No Meet - They're the rules sorry !
Finally - Welcome to all our new members - Hope to see you all out and about soon !
Richard & Lindsay
