Hello to all. Back from a very good five day meet at Haxy Quays and our Air Ambulance weekend, hosted by Hazel & Keith. WHAT a TURN OUT, When we arrived on Friday I was surprised to see so many vans on site, but that was only the beginning. We had vans coming untill quite late on Friday evening and then some more Saturday.

It was so nice again to see so many visitors both from our own BCC members and also from South Yorks DA. From the comments at our Sunday coffee morning everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as much as we did,and I hope that you will be back next year to support our charity fund raising. That brings me on to say what a fantastic total we raised between us £ 600.00 plus. WELL DONE to everyone.

After coffee morning the Golf gang managed a round, (I think we will have to find somewhere to camp that has a course a little nearer) while the ladies went on their shopping trip. There were plenty of people fishing ,I don't know if they managed to catch any but I hope you all enjoyed trying.

We took the tent down after we got back from golf but it was still wet so we have had to dry it at home ready for the next time. We hope to see you at Cawthorn next as we are going to see some scarecrows before that to give us some ideas. Well it may be a bit late but better late than never so they say. Enjoy your camping until we see you again.

Thanks again Hazel & Keith for a good weekend.... Barrie & Joan.

Hello every body.

This week we have been to Haxey Quays for our Charity fund raising weekend. Hazel and Keith were our hosts with Sandra and I organising the fund raising bit. I had booked a couple of days off so I could take advantage of the extra days with this being a 5 night meet. I arrived on Thursday evening to find we already had a good number of vans on site. On Friday morning it was time for the hard work to start. With 3 marquees to put up I needed all the help I could get. I wasn’t disappointed. In no time at all I had loads of volunteers and the job was done in no time. Thanks to all who helped.

Hazel & Keith did a sterling job getting all the vans on as others helped with the cups of tea and coffee. By the end of Friday night we had 57 vans on site. 1 more on Saturday morning made a grand total of 58. We decided to make use of the marquees on Friday night. So after a quick bite in the Pub for a few of us we met in the tent for a free and easy chin wag.

Saturday morning came and it was time to get all the stalls set up in the marquee. Once again this all came together a treat with all the help that we got. The Fair got under way at 1-00 with the sun shining again. Too many stalls to mention but all manned by Caldervale members who gave up their time for this worthy cause. The BBQ team were kept busy, but they managed to feed all present with ease. At about 2-30 we finished the afternoon off by drawing the raffle. Once again a very nice table full of prizes all donated by members and guests alike. All in all it was a brilliant afternoon, The weather stayed kind an every body had a good time I think. Just time for a quick shower and a rest before I started the social at 7.30. I was a little concerned that we might struggle to get every body in the marquee but all was fine. The weather was kind so quite a few sat out in the warm evening air. I think that we had a good evening. I did cram quite a lot in with numerous quizzes and bingo etc. But in true Caldervale style we managed to finish bang on 11-00. I was dead on my feet so I did not take any rocking to sleep that night.

Sunday morning came and so did the sun at first. We held the coffee morning at 11-00 as usual and I did all the usual announcements etc. I also awarded 4 of our past area Chairmen/woman with a commemorative pennon for there services. Unfortunately the rain started to fall and our plans of taking the tents down dry were scuppered. We decided to leave them up to see if the weather would brighten up whilst the Golf crew went for a round. Well it did until we got to the 17th then the heavens opened again. Once again with a lot of help we got the tents down quite quickly. Now comes the hard part of trying to dry them out at home.

As I was staying until Monday I joined the rest of the family (Apart from my Sandra that is as she had to work) In the pub for tea. Sharron and Steve joined us and we had a very nice meal. I finished the night off by Having a couple of drinks in Roy and Kath Browns van. Monday morning came and I got up quite early to sort my car out as I had quite a lot of gear to get back home. The golf crew met again and got soaked again. We had a very heavy storm just as we reached the 17th again. I packed the van up and moved it on to West Stockwith ready for us to steward next weekend.

Once again Caldervale came up trumps when needed. The total raised for the Air Ambulance was £620.00. Quite un believable.

Well done to all who helped out over this weekend. Too many to name but you know who you are. A Big thanks must go to all the visitors who attended. Without your generosity all the hard work would be in vain.

Hope to see you all soon.

Duncan & Sandra.
