Hi All
Well we are approaching another winter but you wouldn’t believe it with the weather we are having at the moment. This week we have been to Haxey with Mum & Dad as our hosts. We arrived quite late on Friday night due to the road works on the A1. After the usual meet and greet cuppa with our hosts and there helper (Sandra1) We had a bite to eat before setting off to have a drink at the local pub. That’s when the drama started. Only a short walk to the pub, but our Hazel managed to turn it into a mini disaster. She decided to go Arse over elbow off the curb out side the pub. Not one to do things by half’s my sister as you will hear later. We scraped her up off the floor and packed her into our Sandra’s car which was doubling as an ambulance for the night. The rest of us who managed to stay upright for the remainder of the short walk to the pub had a nice night of chat and catching up with the gossip. The walk home was far less entertaining. When we came out of the boozer it was
Pi---ing it down. (Wish id brought me brolly) We arrived back at the van soaking but we had a good night. Cheers for your company.
Saturday morning came and it was very nice weather. It soon became obvious that Hazel needed to go to hospital to get her numerous injuries checked out. My Sandra volunteered to take her to A&E whilst the golf team went for a knock. Most of us had a decent round apart from our Ben. The round from hell springs to mind. I think he now holds the record of the most balls lost in one round. ( about 15 to 20) now that’s a bad round in anybody’s book. Never mind. He did make me look good. I must give a mention to Charlie who was made up because he beat me by 1 shot. (Read on).
We arrived back on site at about 3 o’clock to find the shopping team had not been doing what they do best. ( The local economy will suffer) Also Hazel and Sandra were still at the hospital which could only spell bad news. We decided not to put the tent up as there would not be enough room for everybody as I only brought the small one. With not a lot to do, I took advantage of the quiet afternoon and got my head down for 40 winks. 80 winks later I woke up to find that Hazel and Sandra had arrived back on site. BAD NEWS. Broken finger that needs an operation, torn ligaments in her ankle. Bruised knee and chest. ( Think her nose broke her fall or things could have been a lot worse) Only joking sis. Hope you are feeling better very soon. That night a few of us had a get together in our Sandra’s awning. Cheers to all who made a very enjoyable night.
Sunday morning and the usual coffee chin wag was held at 11-00. After all the usual drivel from my self the golfers decided to spoil another good walk and have 9 holes whilst a few of the lady folk went to Yorkshire caravans to spend a bit of the hard earned. A better round for Ben only loosing 2 balls this time. Must mention that I got my own back on Mr Roe by beating him by a few shots this time.(Its not about the winning is it Charlie) (Not Much) We had a good laugh as usual, so thanks to all the crew for a good couple of rounds.
Once again we have had a brill weekend with our friends and family. 25 vans is a good show for an October meet. Thanks to Dum & Mad for a nice weekend and we will see you all next week for our area FOL.
Duncan.
Hello there,
Just back from another great weekend hosted by Iris & Ivan helped by Sandra( she can't keep out). When we arrived we got sett up and then went for our usuall cuppa which lasts longer every time.we then put up an awning which we got from the folks who sold us the van, not bad but it has canvas roof etc. so we will have to make sure it's dry when we put it away.
We decided to go for a meal at the pub instead of getting our own ready.
Friday evening I joined the gang for a walk to the pub for some light refreshment. It was dark by then so most had taken a torch including Hazel who was just behind me as we went towards the pub, next thing we heard was a cry of agony from Hazel who had done a full length dive off the causeway onto the road. She was soon on her way back to the van in Sanrda's car come ambulance while the rest of us went to talk about it in the pub.
Saturday morning the golf gang went for a round (our gang is getting bigger now up to 7)It was so nice weather wise that we played in shirt sleeves in the middle of October, can't be bad. When we got back from golf the ladies hadn't gone shopping and Hazel & Sandra hadn't got back from hospital, didnt look too promising for her.
They got back early evening with Hazel proudly showing off her pot, and telling us she has to go back on Monday with the prospect of an opperation on her finger and 3 months off work ( got company now Keith, No sitting with a cuppa and watching telly). Saturday evening we went into Sandr's awning for a get together, very nice it was too, thanks Sandra.
Sunday morning we had our usual coffee morning and had to dash to get our awning down before it got wet as it started to rain. didn't last long though and once it was down the golf gang went for a short game while the ladies plucked up the energy to go shopping. We got back before them and had most things ready for leaving the site before they arrived back.
Thanks once again Iris & Ivan for a good weekend and hope the weather stays a bit longer yet.
See you all at Barnborough next weekend, till they have fun and hope you are feeling better Hazel.
