Area feast of lanterns on saturday night. Come and light up with us !!

Hello yawl

Barnburough this weekend with our hosts Joan and Barrie. What a weekend. We arrived at about 5.30 to find the field well full, But with vans still arriving until about 7.30 it was obvious this would be a well attended meet for the time of year. 16 vans in total which is a record for this meet. Quite a few of us met up in the pub for a drink or two after tea. We had a good old gossip as usual. Cheers for a nice night.

Saturday morning came and so did the sunshine. What a nice October day it turned out to be. The golf crew went for a game on a new course for us just up the road. The usual average performance but we all enjoyed it as usual. We had a few teams off shopping this week. Some to Rotherham,. Doncaster, Barnsley and Mexbourough. Keep it up. The local economy needs you.

After we all arrived back on site it was time to prepare our displays for the evening. That done, we just had time to pop in to the pub for tea. Very nice at a good price, which is what we Yorkshire folk like.

We all met at 7.00 for the lighting up of our displays. And what a display. Most of the vans had something to show. A very big thank you from me for taking the time to do something. After walking round all the display we met in the tent for Barrie & Joan’s social. After a few games of OY Barrie announced that our Sandra had won the display competition with Home & Away. Well done to her for that. (I will need to give the judges a bigger bribe next year) Brian and Maria provided the booze as it was Brian’s birthday. (50 again). Thanks for that .It went down well. Joan and Barrie also laid on soup and a roll for supper which warmed us all up. All in all we had another very entertaining evening. Thanks to all involved.

Sunday morning came and so did the sun once again. Are we actually in October?? Coffee was at 11.00 as usual. Cheers for listening to my drivel again.

After coffee a few of us went for another 9 holes (we are suckers for punishment) whilst the others enjoyed the sunshine.

We have had another first class meet with our friends. A big thanks must go to Joan and Barrie for another memorable meet.

Hope to see you all next week at Braithwell

Duncan.

Hello there,

Back from our weekend meet at Barnburgh,if many more turn up next year we will have to spill over into the next field if there are no crops in it as we had 16 vans this year and it is October.

After setting up we waited for our first guests and then they just kept coming untill about 7-30. Not long before it was time to go for a drink in the Crown. Thanks for a good night .

Saturday we changed things round a little, we put up the tent before we went for a round of golf and the ladies went off in groups to go shopping in all directions. Saturday evening it was time for our Feast of Lanterns and what a show nearly everyone put on a fine display and we managed to have two independent judges who finally picked Sandra's HOME & AWAY. Well done Sandra and well done to everyone who took part it is nice to see so many taking part. We then had our get together in the tent were we had soup and a roll followed by cheese and biscuits and a birthday cake for Brian's ? birthday.A bit crowded in the tent but it felt very cosy and very enjoyable.

Sunday morning we had our coffee morning after which some of the golfers went for another round which I declined and stayed behind and took down the tent with the help of those left behind, Thanks for the help. It was such a nice day that we stayed untill about 4-00 before setting of home after a very good weekend. Thanks to all especially our visitors for coming and taking part and hope to see you all again next year if not before.

By for now and hope to see you at Braithwell next weekend with Margaret And Jack

Joan & Barrie
