This is our second trip out with the Caldervale & South Yorkshire BCC members and we have thoroughly enjoyed both. We have been made to feel very welcome on both occasions and have no hesitation in joining them again in the future. The meet at Ferryboat Farm Fisheries had lovely surroundings, the tranquility broken only by the rumblings of both passenger & freight trains from the line running adjacent to the site. These didn't bother us too much, as after a few bottles of what ever takes your fancy; you don't hear them :) The grass had been cut just before we arrived, which meant we were trailing the damp cuttings into our caravans throughout the weekend - could have done without that, but that was much better than cow pats - especially steaming ones. Sited opposite the lake, we watched a heron do a spot of fishing - he (or she) did much better than the anglers that arrived for their match on Sunday morning! My husband being a real ale fan didn't really go for the local Brewer's Fayre pub up the road, as they had nothing to offer him - nor did they stay open very late - we were asked to leave by 11pm as the staff needed a taxi home and had to lock up, so our last drinks were rushed. Must try a different pub next time. Weather was hit and miss all weekend, but not too cold - Sunday morning brought some 20+ mph winds, so it was fun trying to put everything away without being blown over. We got home safely and in good time with the tail wind and are looking forward to coming back to Ferryboat Fisheries again in the summer. Thanks to Shelli & David for hosting the meet - see you all out and about again soon. Teresa Hooker
